3 Easy Ways To Get Your House Move In Ready And More Appealing To Buyers

Are you thinking about putting your house on the market?  Here are 3 relatively easy, economical, positive opportunities that are often forgotten, that can help you attract more buyers.
The first thing to do is De-clutter that house!!!  Let’s face it, we all have busy lives and when it comes to cleaning up after ourselves, if often takes the back seat to some much needed rest.  But remember, when you show off your house to a potential buyer, you want them to see the best possible presentation of your home! Just like you, they may have busy lives and want a house that is easy to obtain and organize!  The more ways you can show how adaptable your house can be, the more appealing it will be to those buyers.  Who doesn’t want storage!?!
Number Two on the list goes hand in hand with de-cluttering.  Buyers want to see a CLEAN, inviting home.  When is the last time you dusted the top of those fan blades? Before you ask, buyers absolutely look at that!! Take that extra time to dust those blinds, window seals, and tables in the house as well. Haven’t you heard of the “finger test?”  How about those face and finger prints from the kids and the family dog on the glass windows and doors?  That glass should make you feel as you could walk straight through it, believe it or not, it sometimes makes the rooms look bigger too!  There are plenty of great neutral smelling, inexpensive cleaning products to help you get clean and smell good and fresh all at the same time!  Be careful to not “over scent” your house with all the different varieties of plug-ins out there, you want to try and depersonalize as much as possible, and your favorite scent might not be the same as someone else, plus sometimes all those scents together have the opposite effect.  However, did you know that vanilla is the #1 rated odor?  Something to think about… If carpet is present, it’s always a good idea to get them shampooed to maximize the presentation of your floors, if a buyer walks in and see’s small stains or matted carpet, their first thoughts are often “new carpet = money” which can sometimes push them away.  You can rent carpet cleaners yourself at many retailers to help save costs on hiring a company to do it.
How many times has, fix that crooked counter door, tighten those loose drawer handles, replace the light bulb, and paint the living room hit your “to do list?”  Number three on making your home move-in ready is a big one.  Again, we do lead busy lives, but have you ever heard the saying, “small things lead to bigger things.”  When buyers are looking at making the biggest purchase of their lives they want quality for their money.  It doesn’t matter if your selling your house for $80,000 or $800,000, buyers want the best for what they are spending.  When you go to buy a new piece of furniture at the store, you probably don’t look for the table with the rickety leg or the couch with flat, torn cushions.  What about when you buy your new car? You aren’t looking at the one that has flat tires and a missing side mirror… you want the most for your money, just as you would if you are buying a home for you and your family.  I know, I know… painting isn’t your “cup of tea” but you might have some colors in your house that appeal to you and your liking, while a buyer can have a total different interpretation of it.  It’s always good to have solid, neutral colors in your home; it allows your buyers to paint their own canvas in their minds and visualize how they would make it!!  Just remember,  taking the time to fix these minor “troubled areas” in your home can make a huge impact on the first impression potential buyers get from their visit, and the majority of them can be fixed in a weekend with some motivation… How about this for motivation, it will help YOUR return in YOUR investment!!!
