5 Ways To Keep Your Home

“Merry & Bright” During the Holidays Image title

Holidays can be stressful for ANYONE, more so if you’re buying or selling a home during all of the family festivities. There are many things you can do during the holiday season to take the “bite” out of buying or selling. Here are a few tips I’ve learned over the years that may be able to help:

1.Tidy up as you go along.

It’s easy to leave a glass here or a coffee cup there throughout our morning rush out the door. Learn to be mindful of the presentation of your home throughout the day. Doing a little here & there as you go will help to keep you from being overwhelmed when you get the call from the agent that someone is standing on your doorstep, and can they just take a sneak peak??

2.Always keep a dessert out & ready.

Nothing says “Welcome Home” like a fresh plate of chocolate chip cookies or a beautiful apple pie under glass. It’s inviting and makes the house smell great! It’s better when you are able to bake them before a showing but if that’s not an option, one of my time saving tips is to go to your local supermarket, buy a pie… warm it up… and Ta-Da, you look like a PRO! Image title

Let me just say, I know… It may be extreme, and my husband thinks I might have a problem. But, I can’t help it! I absolutely think candles make a room feel more cozy and tranquil. I don’t recommend lighting them four hours before a showing and leaving them burning all day. But definitely, get some of the wax melts that you can plug in and leave then for an hour or two. I think it changes the atmosphere of a room and immediately makes your guests feel welcome.

4.Use Holiday Décor To Help Make Your Home More Inviting. Image title

One of the best things about selling your home during the holidays is you get to take advantage of seasonal decorations “sprucing” up the place. Everyone loves walking into a home with a beautifully displayed wreath on the door. The holiday season is the time to make your home a showplace. Set your table (complete with napkins and silverware). It creates a very inviting room and its easier to do during Thanksgiving & Christmas rather than…. President’s Day.

5.Music makes MERRY.

When your showing your home, be sure to have some nice holiday tunes on the TV or speaker system. It is the ONLY time of year when you get to enjoy it… Sure, we’ve all been singing the same old songs year after year. But it may just warm the heart of a happy homebuyer who loves to hear about, “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire” when they walk in and see your beautiful fireplace! (Cue reindeer in the front yard)
