Hip Donelson

Hip Donelson

Have you been to Donelson lately?  If not you might want to go there and check it out, there is a lot of great things happening.
Most of the new interest in this great community comes from the organization HipD, or Hip Donelson.  This organization bills itself as "Unapoligetically Nashville's Hippest Community."  I have been to the Farmers Market on Friday evening at the Ace Hardware Complex and it is a good time.  There are local musicians, great food, fun people, and a great deal of laughter.  Check it out on Friday nights.
Donelson is also home to McGavock High School which was visited by President Barack Obama in January.  This event was sparked from the success of the high school's academy program.  Part of Metro Nashville Public School system this school is one of the highest performing of the district and has a lot of great things happening there.
For an alternative DCA is a great private school that offers everything the public schools do but with a Christian centered atmosphere.  If you really want to know what DCA is all about attend a Football game in the fall.  The crowd, the students, and the setting will have you hooked.
There is also the Donelson YMCA, one of the best around.  The Y has everything that you would expect.  Lots of lessons and games for the kids, a wonderful outdoor pool area, and plenty of healthy activities for you and your family.
Donelson also hosts a stop on the Music City Star, the commuter train that ends in the heart of Downtown Nashville.  This train is not just for commuters.  There is a special Game day train for all home Titans games, and it runs deep into the night so you can visit those Honky-Tonks on Broadway.
Are you into a great walk along a quiet river.  The Stones River Greenway is 10.2 miles and connects to the Shelby Park Greenway across the Two Rivers Pedestrian Bridge.  This gives the Donelson residents a walking, running, and biking pathway that will lead them all the way to LP Field in Downtown Nashville.
What about the Real Estate?  It is a great community with great residents.  Currently there is a lot to offer in almost any price range but I don't see that lasting for very long.  Soon the investors will begin buying up the houses and rehabbing them to turn a great profit.  This is good news for those living in Donelson, who are looking for the next Hip area that developers will turn to, and those looking for a great area for Real Estate investment.
Are you intrigued.  Call your Realtor to get a list of homes, ask for open houses, or just take a little drive and you will see it is a great place.  Don't have a Realtor?  Give me a call I will be happy to show you around and bring you to my favorite spots.
